Their brains are ready.
Are your books?
Between birth and age 3, your baby's brain forms over 1 million neural connections per second. During this window, their minds are uniquely equipped to absorb the sounds, patterns, and structures of multiple languages — simultaneously and without confusion.
Babies can distinguish sounds from all world languages — an ability called phonetic awareness that tapers off by 12 months. Between 18–36 months, children acquire 5–10 new words per day. Consistent multilingual input during this period builds lifelong language and abstract thinking skills.
Young Linguist books use a methodology called Language Stacking™ — pairing visual cues with vocabulary in multiple languages to strengthen cross-linguistic mapping. It provides the repeated, visual, labeled exposure that turns passive hearing into active word learning — in all your family's languages at once.
Parents often underestimate their child's ability to acquire additional languages - but they do it much better than adults!
Michelle Ashkelon is a developmental linguist, polyglot (fluent in 5 languages), and the mom behind Young Linguist. She holds a BA in Linguistics from the University of Minnesota with a focus on Pediatric Speech-Language Pathology.
Her fieldwork with multilingual toddlers revealed a consistent pattern: their brains weren't confused by multiple languages — they were thriving. But nearly 90% of parents worried their children were speech-delayed, when in reality, those brains were building multiple language systems simultaneously at breakneck speed.
Young Linguist was born at the intersection of that academic training, professional experience, and everyday life as a parent raising her daughter in Russian, English, Hebrew, and Spanish.

"I absolutely need books like this! I don’t always remember the correct word for everything, and when I’m tired and stressed sometimes, the word in my native language won’t come immediately."
This is an amazing book! You’re a wonderful person to make this possible! Board book format definitely makes things so much more enjoyable for children.
My son is 2,5 and LOVES books, he always asks, how does Grandpa say to apple? How does Babushka say to apple? How does Mama say to car? and so on. I'm thrilled to have a visual dictionary in all of our languages. Thank you for doing this!

Everything you need to know
Won't multiple languages confuse my baby?
This is the #1 myth in early childhood language development — and the research is clear: no. Babies' brains are built to handle multiple languages simultaneously. What looks like "confusion" (mixing languages, delayed first words) is actually a hallmark of parallel language development. It's the brain doing exactly what it's designed to do.
What age is this book for?
Designed for ages 0–3+, targeting the peak window of language acquisition. Babies as young as 6 months benefit from visual-verbal pairing. Half the pages show isolated objects on white backgrounds for babies learning to focus; the other half feature detailed scenes for toddlers building context and storytelling skills.
How long does shipping take?
Each book is custom-made to order. Please allow 6–10 business days for your customized book to ship. Free shipping on orders $100+ within the U.S., international shipping available. We know the wait can feel long — but your one-of-a-kind book is worth it.

We currently offer 75+ languages and are always expanding. If you don't see your language, email us and we'll make sure to accommodate your request. Our goal is to serve every multilingual family, including those speaking minority or underrepresented languages.
What is Language Stacking™?
Language Stacking™ is a term coined by our founder for visual and auditory cues labeled & spoken in multiple languages. While researching multilingualism in infants and toddlers, she found it was the most efficient modality for optimized cross-linguistic mapping — helping babies build vocabulary bridges between their languages simultaneously.
Can I order this as a gift?
Absolutely — and it's one of the most meaningful gifts you can give a multilingual family. Each book can be personalized with a child's name. It's not just a book; it's an heirloom that says: "Your languages matter."
Every child is a young linguist — if you trust their brains to do what they're designed to do.
The 0–3 window doesn't wait. Their brains are ready right now. Give them a book that speaks all their languages.
